As part of the next Future Tours Program (FTP), the total number of teams is likely to increase in the upcoming cycles of the World Test Championship (WTC). Changes in the structure of the tournament are also possible. Amid speculations over the revised FTP blueprint, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi has made some important comments.
Pakistan cricket team is currently in Bangladesh for a two-match test series. Naqvi was in Dhaka for the first match of the two-match Test series. Amid the series, a journalist asked Naqvi about the plans of the Pakistan cricket team and which teams they will play against in the coming days.
Will Pakistan play India vs Pakistan in World Test Championship?
There has been tension between Pakistan and India for a long time. Due to political tensions, they face each other on the cricket field only during ICC events, that too at neutral venues.
If the proposed FTP comes into effect, teams may have to play home and away matches. Under this possible scenario, where teams may ask to play in home and away conditions, will a Test match be played between India and Pakistan? This has been the question.
Mohsin Naqvi has made an important comment amid tension between the two countries. He said that his national cricket team will play against all countries. “Har mulk ke saath khelenge (we will play against all countries),” the PCB chief told the reporter.

England can play multiple 5 match test series
The England cricket team is all set to undergo a busy Test schedule in the coming months. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is abandoning the principle of reciprocal home-and-away series targets in the next World Test Championship (WTC), which will begin with the home Ashes series next summer, The Guardian reported.
It is reported that ECB is in talks with South African and Pakistani cricket teams to organize bilateral Test series. If the plans are implemented as per the original plans, the England cricket team could face South Africa and Pakistan for a 5-match Test series. Apart from this, England can face Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for one Test match each.
Behind the scenes a newly-constructed WTC is taking shape
Earlier, on April 10, 2026, ESPN Cricinfo had reported, “According to an official, the board will have to consider two things: whether one-off Tests are acceptable as part of the WTC, and whether it is financially sustainable for three non-WTC teams to commit to two years or more of Test cricket.”
A few days later, it seems the ECB has taken a step forward in the process, with the proposed structure to include more teams in the WTC tournament. In future, even a single Test match can be considered a part of the WTC cycle.
The Guardian reported on 8 May, “The ECB is responding to the International Cricket Council’s plan to expand the WTC to all 12 Test-playing nations, which would include Ireland, Zimbabwe and Afghanistan in the same division for the first time.”
“The ECB is in favor of the so-called one-Test series solution as it would give smaller nations more opportunities, as well as complement their own strategy to safeguard the oldest and longest format of the game,” it also claimed.
