Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh slammed Pakistan Cricket Board President and Asian Cricket Council President Mohsin Naqvi after the Asia Cup 2025 Trophy controversy. Harbhajan said that he was “not enough to decide” whether the trophy should be honored and the BCCI would receive it.
Tension erupted after the conclusion of the Asia Cup 2025 final at Dubai International Stadium on 28 September. Suryakumar Yadav decided not to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi after winning five wickets over Pakistan. Naqvi then took the trophy and winner medals with him to the hotel.

The presentation after the Asia Cup 2025 match delayed more than 90 minutes. The Indian team refused to accept Mohsin Naqvi directly to accept the trophy, who is the internal minister of Pakistan and shared controversial posts on social media.
Players like Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma and Kuldeep Yadav were handed over individual awards, but India did not get the trophy at the podium. Naqvi eventually left the stadium with the trophy, criticized and was labeled by many people.
Silver utensils are now allegedly at the ACC headquarters, and Naqvi said that he intends to hand over it to India. However, the Indian team is not ready to get the trophy directly from them.

Harbhajan Singh said that the dispute between the Asia Cup Trophy and the Handshek saga will not change. He emphasized that India won the tournament and said that there is no point in delaying the trophy handover.
Harbhajan quoted Harbhajan as saying, “A lot happened during the Asia Cup. About Handshek Saga – Earlier, the big question was whether the matches should have been at all.”
“India won the tournament, and this is their biggest trophy. I don’t think it is enough to decide Naqvi or anyone else to decide whether the trophy should be honored or not. If not today, the trophy will be given tomorrow, so what is the matter to keep it aside?
Will India get the Asia Cup Trophy?
After the Asia Cup 2025, it was reported that Mohsin Naqvi had apologized for the defeat after the match. However, Naqvi denied claims, called him “fabricated publicity” by the Indian media. He also said that India can collect a trophy directly from the ACC office.
During the ACC annual general meeting in Dubai, BCCI representatives Rajiv Shukla and Ashish Sheller raised objections, stating that the trophy was of ACC and not one of the person. Naqvi refused to clarify when the trophy would be handed over.
The BCCI has revealed that it will pursue the case to the ICC during its November 2025 meeting. In particular, India dominated the three encounters against Pakistan, including a five -wicket victory in the final, which shows its superiority on its archives.
