The post -match presentation ceremony was delayed. India, who had just won the tournament, refused to accept the trophy as it was being presented by Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Naqvi, who is known for her anti-India comments, was on stage.
Indian players opted to not move forward to get silver utensils from them. However, Tilak Verma, Kuldeep Yadav and Abhishek Sharma received their awards from sponsors. However, the winning team did not get the trophy.
India Emirates Cricket Board Vice President Khalid Al Zaroni was ready to accept the award, but Naqvi did not allow that option.
Many Indian supporters instigated Pakistan captain Salman Ali Aga when he went on stage. Naqvi left the ground with the trophy, while the Indian team returned empty -handed to their hotel. It became one of the most controversial and disappointing post match celebrations.

Devjit Saikia condemned the behavior of Mohsin Naqvi during the trophy ceremony. Saikia said that the country is in a struggle with Pakistan, and the team cannot accept the award from Naqvi. He also said that Naqvi should not remove the trophy and medal from India.
“India is fighting a war with a country, and a leader belonging to that country should have handed over the trophy …
“So we have refused to take the trophy, but this does not mean that the gentleman will take the trophy and medal, which is to be given to our country, in our hotel room.”
