15-year-old Rajasthan Royals star Vaibhav Suryavanshi has impressed everyone with his explosive cricket in IPL 2026. His performances have led to calls for his inclusion in the Indian national team, with claims that he is ready for the big stage.

Suryavanshi made his IPL debut in IPL 2025 at the age of just 14. Since then, he has become one of the most aggressive cricketers the league has ever seen. Now, former India fast bowler Mohit Sharma has joined the chorus of experts calling for his inclusion in the Indian team.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was called for India-A

Recently, Suryavanshi received a call-up for the India A tri-series to be held in Sri Lanka in June. The 50-over List-A tri-series will also include Sri Lanka-A and Afghanistan-A. Tilak Verma was chosen to lead this team, while Riyan Parag was made the vice-captain.

The triangular series will run from June 9 to June 21, consisting of a double round-robin group stage and a final. India A is also scheduled to play two four-day unofficial Tests against Sri Lanka A, but it is not immediately clear whether Vaibhav Suryavanshi will play in those matches.

“He should play for India” – Mohit Sharma

Speaking to SportsBoom, Sharma said that Suryavanshi is ready to play international cricket. But he also said that the national team should not fast-track him, but wait for the opportunity to present itself.

Since he is just 15 years old, many experts have claimed that Vaibhav Suryavanshi can easily serve Indian cricket for the next 15 to 20 years.

“Of course, he should play for India. Why not? Why do you need to play for your country? You need to perform against top players and top teams, which he is already doing in the IPL. Now, it depends on the team combination and how the team thinks. If we are talking about whether he is ready or not, I would say give him a try if there is a spot.”

Currently, many players are competing for the opening spot in the Indian team, especially in T20Is. While Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson are in position, Ishan Kishan, Yashasvi Jaiswal and even Shubman Gill are waiting for their chance.

Mohit Sharma also shared his views on this competition between aggressive players. “If you look at Abhishek Sharma, he also plays aggressive cricket. Earlier, it was about power and range-hitting; now, there is a lot of focus on technique and timing. It is great for the current generation, which is led by players like Abhishek and Ishan Kishan.”

He then concluded by jokingly commenting on how happy he was to see players like Vaibhav Suryavanshi retire from playing instead of bowling.

“Not just batting, but also smashing all the top fast bowlers. He will learn and develop with time. Currently, he is playing only one style and format. With his talent, I am sure he will go very far,” he said. “I’m glad I retired, otherwise I would have been ruined too.”
