A section of Pakistani cricketers got a chance to heave a sigh of relief, not because something good happened related to their team, but because of Team India’s defeat against South Africa on February 22. South Africa defeated Suryakumar Yadav-led Team India by 76 runs in their first match of the Super 8 of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Aamir is continuously saying that India is probably not ready to play the semi-finals. For him, both South Africa and West Indies played better cricket than India in the group stage. Then as soon as the comments went on air, fans started trolling Aamir.
Mohammad Yusuf supported Mohammad Aamir
As soon as India had a reality check after the match, the scenario changed completely. After the match, Amir received support from his compatriot Mohammad Yousuf, who labeled him a true “dangerous” and urged him to give India “breathing space” as they were already on fire.
“Oye, @iamamirofficial, you dangerous! You harassed #India on the field, and now you’re ousting them in the studio. Let them breathe; they’re already on fire. South Africa, the finalists, have picked up right where they left off last #T20WorldCup. A formidable side! The top order faltered, but the lower order did well, and the bowling discipline was exceptional,” Yousuf wrote on X.

Summary of India vs South Africa match in Ahmedabad
Talking about the India vs South Africa match, the Proteas came out to bat first and were immediately in trouble with the new ball due to the aggressive magic of Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh. Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton were out cheaply. South Africa had lost 3 batsmen for only 20 runs in 4 overs.
The dynamic began to change when Dewald Brewis and David Miller joined the party. This combination of young and experienced batsmen took away the momentum from the Men in Blue. The team of Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir failed to utilize whatever they had planned for the middle overs. The inclusion of Washington Sundar was not beneficial for the team at all. Sundar was included in place of vice-captain Axar Patel for the Men in Blue.
Defeat by 76 runs!
South Africa scored 187 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. The target was competitive but not beyond the reach of the Indian batsmen. Under pressure, the batting attack collapsed and South Africa eventually won the match by 76 runs. The result against South Africa not only damaged India’s momentum but also affected the team’s net run rate.
To remain relevant in the title race, the Men in Blue need to win their remaining two games of the Super 8, which are against Zimbabwe and West Indies.
