The humiliation of India’s national cricket team’s premier right-arm fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who has been a great player of the game, continues with a new announcement from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

In fact, on Wednesday, November 5, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Test team for the upcoming home tour and once again left out Mohammed Shami from the team.

Mohammed Shami last played for India in the Champions Trophy

The 35-year-old fast bowler Shami is considered one of the best fast bowlers to play for the India national cricket team and has performed exceptionally for the team in all three formats.

His best performances have been seen on the big stages as his performances in ICC events have been absolutely extraordinary. At the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, Shami turned on his beast mode after initial setbacks and took India to the final.

He had a brilliant World Cup campaign where he took 24 wickets in 7 matches and finished as the top wicket-taker in the competition, although India could not capture the title.

During the same World Cup, he suffered an ankle injury, which he healed through injections while playing, but ultimately required surgery. After going under the knife, he was out of action for a very long time and returned to India’s white-ball squad for the home series against England and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

In the marquee tournament, he did not look as dangerous as before, but still, the fast bowler finished as the joint-highest wicket-taker for India.

Ajit Agarkar once again scolded Mohammed Shami

After playing the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Shami was expected to get a Test recall for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, but that did not happen and BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar cited fitness issues as the reason behind his exclusion.

He was also overlooked for the Asia Cup 2025 and the home Test series against West Indies, but he did not give up and moved forward in domestic cricket with hopes of returning for the Test series against South Africa.

Shami recently played three Ranji Trophy matches for Bengal in the current season, taking 15 wickets at an average of 15.53 and a strike rate of 37.2. Despite having excellent numbers, he was not considered for selection.

Notably, Shami was earlier involved in a war of words with chief selector Ajit Agarkar after he said that he had no fitness problems and complained about the lack of communication.
