There has been a new storm in India’s ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against New Zealand, as Mohammed Shami was once again left out of the national team.
Mohammed Shami did not find a place in the team, and what shocked fans even more was that his name was reportedly not part of the selection discussion at all, raising the question whether the selectors have officially written off him in white-ball cricket.
No place for Mohammed Shami: Fans angry over Ajit Agarkar’s selection decision
On 3 January, the Indian selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar announced the squad for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand starting on 11 January at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. In a move that surprised fans, Agarkar reportedly did not even entertain Shami’s name during the selection meeting, signaling the end of the star bowler’s journey with India.

Well, as soon as BCCI made the announcement, angry reactions started pouring in on social media from fans questioning Shami’s complete exclusion. Many fans believe that the experienced fast bowler still has a lot to offer in the ODI format. He has not played for India since March 2025.
