The Supreme Court of India has issued a notice to fast bowler Mohammed Shami and the West Bengal government following a fresh petition filed by his wife Hasin Jahan. He has appealed for increase in the monthly maintenance allowance given by the Calcutta High Court.

In her petition registered in the Supreme Court of India, Hasin Jahan claimed that the current amount is not enough to cover her and her daughter’s expenses.

Earlier, the Calcutta High Court had directed Mohammed Shami to pay Jahan ₹1.5 lakh per month for her personal expenses and an additional ₹2.5 lakh per month for the care of their daughter. However, Jahan has now argued that the amount is inadequate considering Shami’s current financial situation and her increasing responsibilities as a mother.

The case adds another chapter to their long-running feud, which began in 2018 when Jahan accused the Indian fast bowler of domestic violence, dowry harassment and infidelity. Following these allegations, a criminal case was registered against Shami under several sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) cleared Shami of any match-fixing allegations that surfaced at the time, the senior fast bowler’s personal life has been under public scrutiny due to his ongoing legal battle with his ex-wife.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami recently revealed about his personal life. When the Indian bowler was asked about his marriage with Haseen Jahan, he made it clear that he has no regrets and prefers not to dwell on what has passed. He stressed that he did not want to blame anyone for what happened.

“Leave it. I never regret the past. Bygones are bygones. I don’t want to blame anyone, including myself. I want to focus on my cricket. I don’t need these controversies,” Shami was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The Indian fast bowler also answered questions about the personal issues of the cricketers. Over the years, many Indian players have faced challenges in their personal lives, including Hardik Pandya, Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik and many others.

But Shami has made it clear that he does not want to get entangled in unnecessary controversies, because now his only priority is his game. He said, “It is your job to investigate it. Why do you want to hang us? Look at the other side also. I focus on cricket, not on controversies.”

Currently, Shami is out of India’s plans across all formats, and recently, he was ignored for the upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa. He is currently playing for Bengal in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025-26. He last played for India in the Champions Trophy 2025.
