Mohammad Kaif criticizes Indian team management after England’s humiliation

India’s experiment with a youth team was a complete failure. After losing the T20I series 2–0 to Ireland, the Men in Blue were whitewashed 4–0 by England in the five-match series.

The disappointing performance has now forced the BCCI to review the team’s performance and discuss it with the coaching staff and team management.

After the fifth and final T20 match on 11 July, Mohammad Kaif criticized the team management for the poor management of young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi and veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson.

The former Indian batsman believes that frequent changes in the starting combination created confusion rather than giving confidence to any player.

There is a need to bring self-confidence and not doubt in their minds: Mohammad Kaif

Mohammad Kaif believes that both Vaibhav and Sanju deserved clear support from the team management, but the constant changes left them feeling confused. Meanwhile, Wasim Jaffer named 2 all-rounders who can replace Hardik Pandya.

The cricket pundit also made it clear that India’s consecutive T20 series defeats cannot be defended. He raised questions on the leadership decisions taken during the Ireland and England tours.

India made major changes, but experiments in England failed

India embarked on the England tour after many major changes. Suryakumar Yadav was removed as India’s T20I captain, while Shreyas Iyer was handed the captaincy. Tilak Verma was named vice-captain as the team management wanted to create a new group for the future.

The biggest talking point was the debut of 15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The teenage batsman created history by becoming the youngest player to represent India in international cricket, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record.

The selectors also gave chances to uncapped players like Suryansh Shedge and Prince Yadav. However, the inexperienced bowling attack struggled badly throughout the series. India’s batting also failed to perform consistently.

BCCI to review England tour as coaching staff faces uncertain future

India’s 4-0 series defeat in England has not only highlighted India’s struggle in overseas conditions, but also ended their long reign as the No. 1 T20I team in the world. BCCI is now reviewing the team’s performance and major decisions are expected to be taken next week.

It is being said that the two-year contracts of India’s fast bowling coach Morne Morkel and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate are going to end with the ODI series in England, but there is a provision for extension in it. BCCI plans to continue with both of them, but they have not given the green signal yet.
