Mohammad Kaif becomes Pakistan supporter in Salman Ali Aga-Mehdi Hasan Miraj run-out controversy

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif supported Pakistan for some time over the controversial actions of Bangladesh captain Mehdi Hasan Miraj. Mirage forced Pakistan captain Salman Ali Aga to return to the dressing room for a controversial run-out.

This run triggered widespread controversy on social media platforms. Mohammad Kaif also joined the discussion by requesting the cricketers not to do what Miraj did to take the wicket.

Controversial run out of Bangladesh vs Pakistan captain Salman Ali Aga

Salman Ali Aga, who was at the non-striker’s end, bent down to pick up the ball, which hit batsman Mohammad Rizwan on his pads after being hit by the ball. Both Agha and Miraj went to collect the ball. When the Pakistani captain tried to hand the ball to the bowler, he was far out of his crease.

Before he could catch the ball, Miraz immediately took the ball from the surface and in a quick reaction, even hit the stumps. According to the rules this was a runout. Salman Ali Aga was very angry with this incident. He expressed his anger by throwing a glove on the ground.

Mohammad Kaif advised young cricketers not to do this

Like Salman Ali Aga, many cricket experts also believe that the action taken by Mehdi Hasan Miraz has harmed the spirit of the game. Sharing the run-out video, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) used the caption, “Critical moment! Mehdi Hasan Miraz dismisses Salman Aga with a brilliant run-out.” For Mohammad Kaif, “A game without fair play is no game”.

Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif wrote in his reaction, “This is not done. No amount of desperation to take wickets can justify this runout. That too from a captain. Youngsters, please remember, even though the World Cup final is at stake, never do what the Bangladesh captain did. A game without fair play is no game.”

Pakistan won, Bangladesh 114/10

The batsman had to leave the field after scoring 64 runs in 62 balls with the help of nine fours, which included seven fours and two sixes. Pakistan batted first and scored 274 runs. The rain-interrupted match ultimately ended via DLS method. Home team Bangladesh lost all its wickets for only 114 runs. In the run chase, Miraj was out after scoring just 1 run.

The third match of the three-match series, which will take place on March 15, will decide the winner of the bilateral competition as the series is tied at 1-1 after two matches.

Another former cricketer, Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir also expressed his anger over the controversial incident. Aamir accused the umpires of running out Agha.

“Agha even tried to offer help, and Miraz took that opportunity and ran him out. Maybe it was within the rules, but was it within the spirit of cricket? No. As a leader, you should not use such tactics just to get wickets. My question again is to the umpires, why did they not notice this and not give the advantage to the batsman?” Aamir raised the question.
