Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez has launched an all-out attack on the country’s cricket governing body. It is believed that Hafeez has targeted Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi through his comment.

There was a lot of criticism for the Pakistan cricket team’s exit even before qualifying for the semi-finals in the T20 World Cup 2026. While former cricketers like Shoaib Akhtar showed open support to Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the interior minister of Pakistan, some others like Mohammad Hafeez refused to back down and issued some fiery statements against the country’s cricket authority.

Mohammad Hafeez launched an all-out attack on the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Speaking on Tapmad, the former Pakistan cricketer clearly said that Pakistan cricket is in dire need of such a character, a character who can act as a leader who can lead cricket from the front in the country. According to Hafeez, the current structure of PCB is surrounded by some job seekers, Pakistan will make the same mistake with job seekers instead of taking progressive steps for the betterment of the game.

Mohammad Hafeez said, “I want to put it this way, who will go now and really want to work for Pakistan cricket? Everyone would want to, if they are given respect, if they are given the rights.”

Hafeez wants to see ‘job seekers’ off the board

“But if you’re dealing with job seekers, with all the evidence of the past coming out, it’s not going to be okay by the job seekers… You need a character. And that character has to come from within the leadership. Leadership is not about taking credit, it’s about taking responsibility,” he added.

The 45-year-old player suggests that posing for photo sessions after winning the match will not work for the team’s progress. To take the team forward, there is a need for someone who can take responsibility, who can openly take responsibility for every decision.

Someone needs to take responsibilities, Mohammad Hafeez suggested

He observed that neither the board nor the players were present to take responsibility. Hafiz assessed, acceptance is missing. He also believed that anyone would lend a hand to do the work and there would be a blame game like before.

“Those people who go around for photographs after wins, where are they today? Will they accept this failure? Will they come forward and say, ‘Yes, we took decisions, and we made mistakes’? No one will do that. That never happened. The blame will be shifted. For me, the real issue is this: You will move towards success only if you accept your mistakes”, the former captain firmly stated the facts.

“The first step toward success is accepting failure – admitting, ‘Look, I’m making mistakes here. I’m not doing it right. I’ll figure out the issues I have.’ That acceptance is not there. It’s not coming from the administration, and it’s not coming from the players either,” Mohammad Hafeez concluded.
