Pakistan is on the verge of being eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2026 after losing to England in the Super 8 round. Amidst difficult circumstances, former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Aamir has burst the bomb.
In his recent comments, Aamir has hit out at some fans who always show support for certain specific players. According to the 33-year-old, fans need to be aware of the happenings backstage.
Mohammad Aamir has made shocking claims against certain cricketers
Without mentioning any specific name, Aamir claimed that there are some players in the Pakistan national cricket team who put money ahead of responsibilities and national team duty. As an example, he mentioned an incident from the past.
“You know what people say around here? As soon as you name two or three players, some people immediately start defending them, often unfairly. They ask, why only these two or three players? Why are they being criticized?” Amri expressed concern.
“Tell me why they are being criticized. In 2023, they refused to sign the central contract. They wanted the contract on their own terms and demanded specific salaries. They made it clear that they want 6.5 million per month otherwise, they would not sign the central contract”, Aamir explained.
Pakistan Cricket Board has been forced to increase the payment limit
The former fast bowler further revealed that some cricketers refused to sign contracts only because of the pay scale. Under pressure, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was forced to increase the salary cap of central contracts to satisfy the cricketers.
“Ultimately, they were given salaries as per their own demands. Category A was set at Rs 6.5 million per month, while Category B comes to around Rs 4.5 million after tax. They said they would not sign until their conditions were met”, he said.
Where are the results? Mohammad Aamir raised the question. According to him, it is wrong to defend those particular players after such claims.
He said, “When players insist on their demands like this, their names will inevitably come up. But then the question is, where are the results? It is not right to keep defending them by claiming that they have been treated unfairly.”
Meanwhile, Salman Ali Aga’s team suffered two consecutive setbacks in the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup 2026, due to which they could have lost the title. Their first Super 8 match against New Zealand on 21 February was washed out due to rain, followed by a big defeat against England on 24 February. The Three Lions shattered Pakistan’s dreams by defeating them by 2 wickets in a closely contested match.
After two matches, the Men in Green are now in Group 2 with just 1 point. They are scheduled to face Sri Lanka on February 28 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Balagolla.
