Mohammad Aamir claims Mohsin Naqvi and PCB faked Babar Azam’s injury

Recently, Pakistan is facing big drama after doubts were raised over the fitness of Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman during the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. And now former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Aamir has added fuel to the fire with his bold claims.

Recently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched an investigation to find out how both Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman got injured and why their fitness issues were not reported before or during the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which India won in Ahmedabad last week.

Mohammad Aamir accuses PCB of faking Babar Azam’s injury

Adding more fuel to the controversy, Mohammad Amir has refuted claims that Fakhar Zaman has faked his injury. He insisted that Fakhar was actually sidelined with a hamstring problem. His statement raised serious doubts over the conduct of the PCB, as he claimed that the board was faking a player’s injury.

Amir did not mention any names but his hint was clear that the Mohsin Naqvi-headed PCB and the selection committee are pretending to hide Babar’s injury after the former captain was ignored for the tour of Bangladesh, where the Men in Green are playing a three-match ODI series.

Mohammad Aamir said on his YouTube channel, “I heard that PCB has made an excuse of injury to a player and it is not Fakhar Zaman. He is suffering from a hamstring problem.”

Major communication failure? Aaqib Javed dropped the bomb

The drama began when Pakistan selectors said they were unaware of injuries during the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. With national selectors Misbah-ul-Haq, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Asad Shafiq involved in the investigation, the PCB is under pressure to explain whether proper updates on player fitness were shared and why communication failed at a crucial time.

Recently, Aaqib Javed revealed that the Pakistan selectors were not aware of the injuries to Babar and Fakhar during the tournament. Javed said in the press conference, “Fakhar is also injured – we have also requested the Cricket Board to investigate this. How can it be that Fakhar is also unfit and we came to know only after the World Cup is over? When you go to the World Cup, whatever health or injury related problems there are, your head coach and physio should keep everyone updated.”

Aaqib Javed raised questions on Babar Azam’s fitness drama

Talking about Babar Azam, Javed said, “He also wanted to play the National T20 Cup, but his health condition did not allow him to do so. Whether it was visible to you or me or not is not important. But if a player gets injured during practice or a match, then how and when it happens should be known.”

Aaqib openly questioned whether the situation would have been much different if Pakistan had qualified for the semi-finals. Notably, Pakistan has failed to reach the top four in ICC competitions since 2022. He said, “The situation today is that Babar Azam is not fit to play and Fakhar Zaman is not fit to play. If we had reached the semi-finals, would they have suddenly become fit? That is the question.”
