Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc took a total of 31 wickets in the Ashes series, earning him fame as the best bowler and being crowned the ICC Player of the Month for December 2025.

The Australian team defeated England in the home Ashes and dominated the Three Lions, performing brilliantly throughout the series. Australia finished 4–1, and credit for this goes to Mitchell Starc, one of the most experienced campaigners in the Australian lineup.

Australia were without the services of their fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood; Therefore, it was entirely on Starc to carve out a place in England’s strong batting lineup. Along with Scott Boland, Starc produced his best performances for Australia as the Australian team won three consecutive matches between November and December.

Mitchell Starc named ICC Player of the Month for December 2025

Australia’s Mitchell Starc was every bit deserving of being named ICC Player of the Month for December after leading the Australian team in the Ashes competition. Starc, who made a great start to the Ashes in Perth, took 10 wickets in the first match of the Ashes.

He then backed up his performance by taking 8 wickets with the pink ball in the second Test in Brisbane and then took 4 wickets each in Adelaide and Melbourne. With 16 wickets, Starc finished the month of December on a high note.

He won the POTM award from the ICC, beating out potential contenders such as West Indies’ Justin Greaves, who scored the first double century, and New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy, who took 25 wickets against the West Indies in the same series.
