Mitchell Santner fit again as Mumbai Indians get big boost ahead of IPL 2026 vs RCB match

Mumbai Indians (MI) have received a huge boost just ahead of the high-voltage clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2026. In fact, one of the key players of Mumbai Indians is all set to make a comeback in the tournament at the right time.

The Wankhede Stadium is all set to host a blockbuster IPL 2026 clash between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday (April 12). MI will have their key overseas all-rounder back in the playing eleven as they aim to make a strong comeback on home soil after consecutive defeats.

Mitchell Santner’s return against RCB is a big relief for Mumbai Indians.

In fact, after missing MI’s last match against Rajasthan Royals due to a minor injury, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner is now fully fit and available for selection. His return is expected to strengthen both the bowling and batting departments of the Mumbai franchise.

As reported by Times of India journalist, Mitchell Santner is almost certain to play against RCB. He suggested that Santner looked in good form during the practice session at the Wankhede Stadium, where he bowled for long periods and also took part in fielding drills.

Mitchell Santner has started training but Will Jacques has not yet joined MI camp in IPL 2026

The New Zealand captain had started preparations a day before at the Cricket Club of India. Santner’s availability is a big boost for Mumbai Indians as he has the ability to control the middle overs with his left-arm spin.

Additionally, Santner’s batting in pressure situations gives MI the added depth they will need against a strong RCB team. However, England all-rounder Will Jacks has still not joined the MI camp, which means they will have to wait a little longer for his availability.

In his absence, Mumbai have struggled with team balance, but they can now compensate for that with Santner, as there is still no clarity on Jacques’ arrival in India.

Rohit Sharma sets big vision for MI’s future

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma completed 15 years with Mumbai Indians and it became a very special and emotional moment for the entire team. His journey with MI started in 2011. In these 15 years, Rohit became the biggest star of the franchise and led the team to five IPL titles.

His calm captaincy and smart decisions helped Mumbai become one of the most successful teams in IPL history. To celebrate this milestone, MI gifted Rohit a special portrait to honor his long journey and contribution, showing its respect and love for him.

Rohit also thanked all his teammates, coaches and staff for their support. He shared that Mumbai Indians helped him grow as a leader and player and this journey will always be very close to his heart. The Hitman now wants MI to continue going from strength to strength and remain one of the best IPL teams for many years.

“Let’s keep the legacy of this franchise flying higher,” he said.
