During Lucknow Super Giants’ clash against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk on May 10, LSG’s Mitchell Marsh achieved an important feat for his franchise. Talking about the game, Marsh scored just 10 runs in 10 balls as Josh Inglis let things loose.
After Inglis fell, LSG suffered a small slump but Shahbaz Ahmed scored an unbeaten 43 to take LSG past 200. Noor Ahmed was economical, while Jamie Overton was CSK’s best bowler with three wickets.

Marsh achieved the feat of scoring 1000 runs for Lucknow Super Giants. He became the fourth player to achieve the feat for the Sanjiv Goenka-owned franchise. KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni had reached there before him.
Marsh achieved the feat in just 24 innings, making him the fastest of the four innings to achieve the feat for Lucknow Super Giants. By taking 24 innings to reach the milestone, Marsh also made IPL history by joining the list of batsmen who took the fewest innings to score 1,000 IPL runs for a franchise.
Fastest 1,000 runs for a team in IPL (by innings)
1. Chris Gayle for RCB (20 innings)
Gayle joined RCB in 2011 as a replacement for the injured Dirk Nannes. Even though RCB replaced a bowler with a batsman, Gayle caught Bangalore like a fish in water. In his first match for RCB, Gayle scored a century against his former team, Kolkata Knight Riders. Gayle is still the third highest run-scorer for RCB in IPL history.

Gayle’s 20th IPL innings for RCB was against Punjab Kings on 2 May 2012. Gayle scored 71 runs in 42 balls, but RCB could only score 158 runs after Azhar Mahmood’s brilliant 3 wickets. Punjab Kings achieved the target with 4 wickets and 1 ball remaining.
2. Shaun Marsh for Punjab Kings (21 innings)
Despite being an uncapped player in 2008, Mitchell Marsh’s brother Shaun took the IPL by storm. With 616 runs that season, he became the first player to win the Orange Cap.
Shaun Marsh is still the second highest run scorer of all time for Punjab Kings. He is one of only two players to score more than 2,000 runs for the franchise. Shaun’s 21st innings for Punjab came on May 2, 2011 while playing against Mumbai Indians. PBKS’s chase of 16 didn’t exactly go as planned.
While Marsh was on fire at one end, Paul Valthaty was struggling at the other end. Shaun Marsh tried to collect himself during this collapse, but his fighting innings of 61 off 47 balls went in vain.
3. Lendl Simmons for MI (23 innings)
Lendl Simmons arguably falls into the underrated category when talking about certain aspects of the Mumbai Indians superteam of the mid-to-late 2010s.
Simmons was a consistent presence at the top of the order and played a key role in helping Mumbai Indians win the 2015 IPL title.
Simmons reached the 1,000-run mark for Mumbai Indians on 6 May 2017. Simmons scored 66 off 43 balls as he and fellow West Indian Kieron Pollard powered MI to 212 against Delhi Capitals. Between the two, DC matched Simmons to lead MI to an IPL record 146-run win.
3. KL Rahul for Punjab Kings (23 innings)
Rahul first joined PBKS in 2018 and also led the franchise between 2020 and 2021. During these four years in the team, Rahul was practically a force of nature.
In three of the four seasons, Rahul has crossed the 600-run mark and fell just 7 runs short in 2019 with 593. Rahul reached 1,000 runs for Punjab Kings on 16 April 2019.
That day Punjab was facing Rajasthan Royals. Despite hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes, Rahul took 47 balls to score 52 runs. His teammates managed to pick up most of the slack. Ultimately, the bowling unit did its job to give Punjab a close 12-run win.
4. Devon Conway for CSK (24 innings)
Conway originally joined Chennai Super Kings in 2022 and took some time to find his feet. In 2023, he was the leading run-scorer for his team as CSK won their fifth IPL title. Conway missed IPL 2024 due to injury, but in 2025, he reached the 1,000-run mark for CSK. Chennai faces Punjab Kings on April 8, 2025.
Priyansh Arya’s century gave CSK the target of 220 runs. Conway was batting on 69 runs off 49 balls and CSK needed 49 runs off 13 balls. After this, Conway was retired to bring Ravindra Jadeja to the crease, but CSK was out for 18 runs.
4. KL Rahul for Delhi Capitals (24 innings)
After criticism for his strike rate over the years, KL Rahul arrived at Delhi Capitals in 2025 as a changed man. In the last two years, he has increased his strike rate significantly and changed his approach towards the game.
In his latest match for the franchise against KKR on May 8, 2026, Rahul completed the milestone of 1,000 IPL runs for DC. Rahul started well in that game, scoring 23 runs in 14 balls, while his opening partner Pathum Nissanka scored 50 runs.
Unfortunately, Delhi’s middle order was poor and they could score only 142 runs. Surprisingly, KKR’s Finn Allen scored a century while chasing just 142 runs.
4. Mitchell Marsh for LSG (24 innings)
As mentioned above, Mitchell Marsh reached the 1,000-run mark for Lucknow Super Giants on May 10, 2026. Against CSK, Marsh himself scored 10 runs a run-a-ball, but Josh Inglis in the powerplay and Shahbaz Ahmed at the death took LSG past 200.
