“Obviously, you look at two things: you look at the individual numbers, and you look at how you can maximize the team’s performance. So, we felt we wanted to make a change from a captaincy standpoint.”

Mohammad Rizwan Made his captaincy debut in late 2024 and led Pakistan to series wins against Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. In October 2025, Shaheen Afridi was made the ODI captain in his place.
