Pakistan humiliates T20I series opener against Bangladesh
Bangladesh won the toss and was elected to bowl first in the match. The bowlers did a great job and took wickets at regular intervals to reduce Pakistan.
Fakhar Zaman tried his best to pull the team out of trouble, but he was out after a devastating mix with Khushadil Shah for 44 runs. Out of that, Pakistan kept losing wickets and left for 110 in 19.3 overs.
Chasing the target, the Bangladesh batsmen played brilliantly and completed the run-chase in 15.3 overs, which thanks to Parvez Hussain AMM (56*) and reconnaissance Hridoy (36), for the 7-veic victory.
After the game, Mirpur’s pitch has come under a scanner as an angry Pakistan head coach Mike Hessen labeled it as an unacceptable track for international cricket. He said:
“I think (pitch) is not ideal for anyone. Teams are trying to prepare for the Asia Cup or T20 World Cup. It’s not acceptable. It is still no excuse for some of us decisions. But this pitch is not even international standards.”
“We got a little away for a flyer. Fakhar Zaman played four or five shots. It gave us a wrong indication about how the surface was playing. We did not help ourselves in the middle. We chose some bad options. When the ball started via the ball, and we probably didn’t assess that it was also more challenging.
You need good cricket wickets to develop cricketers – Mike Hessen
Continuing his cruel criticism of the Mirpur pitch, Mike Hessen said that cricketers require good pitches to develop, and Bangladesh will suffer in matches away from home if they continue to produce such ‘poor’ tracks.
Mike Hessen said, “You need a good cricket wicket to develop cricketers. There were some good wickets during BPL.
“I don’t think it helps them when they leave Bangladesh. But I think it is challenging to bat for the first time in these situations. When you do not make sure that 100 or 130 or 150 are quite good. I don’t think (pitch) is good for anyone. It still does not overcome the fact that you will have better performance in any surface. We will see as a team.”
We adjusted better with them – Parvez Hussain Imon attacked Mike Hessen
Meanwhile, Bangladesh opener Parvez Hussain Imon has launched a scary attack on Mike Hessen, stating that the pitch was not bad and the hosts had a proof of the easy pursuit of the goal. He said:
“We didn’t think (it was a bad pitch) because we chased it in 16 overs. If we had batted in the entire 20 overs, we scored 150–160 runs.
“We adjusted better with them. The Dhaka Pitch usually benefits the bowlers. We tried to assess the wicket quickly. This was our first plan.”
