Australians woke up to a horrific scene at one of their top tourist destinations along the south coast, as a deadly shooting shocked the nation. People on the beach panicked as two shooters opened fire on a large crowd of people, killing about 10 civilians and seriously injuring many.

Australia is currently hosting the English cricket team for the Ashes, and as a result, many other sporting personalities such as former England captain Michael Vaughan are in the country on commentary duties. Nearly 10 people killed in shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach

According to initial reports, the shooting took place after 6:30 pm in Sydney, one of the most famous places known for crowds of thousands of people. Also, people had gathered for an event on the sea shore The beginning of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.

Footage and reports claimed about 50 or more shots were fired by armed men, and the crowd went wild, as several victims lay unconscious or injured north of Bondi.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the scenes as “shocking and disturbing”.

Chaos ensued when footage showed a civilian heroically killing the gunman. The man quietly sneaked around the parked cars and suddenly pounced on one of the attackers. He then grappled with the shooter, knocking him to the ground and snatching his rifle.

The civilian then pointed the gun at the shooter and forced him to retreat. The clip is believed to have been shot by someone from a nearby building with his phone camera. Although the civilian remains unidentified, perhaps due to security concerns, many have thanked him for saving so many lives and praised his bravery.
