LSG captain Rishabh Pant has the freedom to change his role in the Lucknow Supergiants team. So he promoted himself to the top of the order and opened the innings for Lucknow Super Giants in the opening match against Delhi Capitals.
However, after an unfortunate number of dismissals and failing to make significant contributions, Pant claimed that he is not sure whether he will continue to open for his franchise.
Michael Vaughan claimed, “Yes, if he has opened in the first game then he should open. If it is a decision that Rishabh will open with Mitch, then it should be for 5 to 6 games. In those 5-6 games, all kinds of moves are made automatically.”
Former England captain Michael Vaughan mentioned that while he does not like to see LSG owners on the field, they are always engaged in conversation with the team’s players and management.
Michael Vaughan hit out at the LSG owners, saying, “I watch from quite a distance, and I see the LSG owners on the pitch with Tom Moody, Rishabh and Justin Langer. I don’t like seeing them. After a game on the pitch, he can have a private chat.”
“Even if they’re good conversations, I don’t understand them. What you do, and then you leave it up to people to suggest to others in the group, maybe or maybe not, it might just be a fun conversation.
“I think tomorrow is a big, big game for both of these sides,” he said.

IPL 2026 is Rishabh Pant’s last chance to make a comeback in white-ball cricket
This season of IPL will be the last chance for the Indian wicketkeeper batsman to choose the best comeback option in the white ball format. He has not performed well enough in white-ball games for India, as a result of which he has not played a single game for them in the last one year.
Rishabh was once considered one of the top choice players to wear the gloves but now he is not even considered as a backup in the Indian white ball team. His performance in the last season of IPL was disappointing and this time he would like to improve his figures.
