During Chennai Super Kings (CSK)’s last home match in the IPL 2026 season, representatives from Cricket Australia reportedly visited Chepauk to discuss the inaugural BBL season in India.

According to media reports, a possible Renegades vs Scorchers match at Chepauk could be held at noon local time after the fourth day of the first Test between Australia and New Zealand in Perth. It is important to note that both these teams are in favor of privatization of the league.
While the proposed privatization has the support of some franchises, there is also significant opposition from the remaining BBL teams and some former Australian cricketers.
“I think both teams, and both teams at both clubs, men’s and women’s, are in a good position from a list perspective,” Big Bash League chief Alistair Dobson told SEN Radio in June.
“We’ve got to do some work now to get those fans back on that journey to the clubs with Cricket Victoria. I think once they start to see the season come to life and what’s true to the league, which is fun, family entertainment, summer nights of cricket, those things will stick,” he said.
