South African batsman Matthew Bretzke made a notable debut for his ODI career, breaking his fifth consecutive fifty-Plus score. Bretzke scored half a century at the second ODI between South Africa and England at Lord’s in London, broke the previous record of four organized by Navjot Singh Sidhu for 38 years.
Bretzke made her ODI debut with a record-breaking 150 in her debut against New Zealand. The young batsman then scored 83, 57 and 88 in his three innings. However, he missed the series opener in England. Bretzke returned to the XI to play at Lord’s, instead of the injured Tony de Jorji.

Bretzke scored 85 off 77 balls including seven borders and three sixes, who became the first batsman in 54-year-old ODI history to register five fifty-Plus scores in his first five innings. His innings ended when he was stranded by LBW by Joffra Archer, who bowled an exact yorker.

South Africa won a 2β0 lead in the three-match series, winning England in the second ODI at Lord’s. Protease posted a total of 330, with Brettzke and Triston Stabs (58) shared a 147-run partnership after an early 93β3 fall.
Jofra Archer ended with 4-62, while Adil Rashid was England’s most affordable bowler with 2-33. England spinners, Bethel and Jack scored 112 runs in 10 overs, transferred the game in favor of South Africa.
