Sri Lankan fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana has undergone surgery in France to repair the serious left hamstring injury he suffered during the IPL that has forced him out of competitive cricket. Doctors carried out the procedure successfully and Pathirana has now started the rehabilitation phase of his recovery.

Pathirana was also ruled out of the recent West Indies tour of Sri Lanka due to a hamstring injury. Sri Lanka played a white-ball series consisting of three ODIs and three T20 matches. The absence of one of Sri Lanka’s premier fast bowlers was a major blow for the touring team, who recently lost the T20I series by a margin of 1-2.
