The UP is facing a match-fixing controversy just before the final of the T20 League tournament, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 6. Lucknow officials lodged an FIR after a BCCI’s anti-corruption unit (ACU) complaint after alleged attempts to manipulate matches.
The league has come under investigation following a suspicious message. According to the FIR filed on 31 August, Kashi Rudra team manager Arjun Chauhan received a message from an Instagram account called ‘VIPSSSSS_NAKRANI’. The complaint was filed by the league’s anti-corruption manager Hardal Singh Champawat.

The suspected, claiming to be a high-profile bookies, attempted to fix the matches in the UP T20 League, offering of 1 crore to manipulate the results and promise ₹ 50 lakh to Kashi Rudra team manager.

He directed that players follow their directions during the Games and guarantee immediate payment in cash or US dollars. ACU recorded all WhatsApp messages and voice calls, collecting screenshots, tape and audio clips as evidence.
After the review, the unit determined that it was a criminal conspiracy for match-fixing and illegal betting. The team manager immediately reported the approach, and the ACU set up a trap documenting the conversation before submitting evidence to the police for investigation.

DCP South Zone Nipun Aggarwal said that the allegations include cheating, cheating by individual, organized crime, attempt of crime, violation of public gambling Act, 1867 and Section 66D of the IT Act.
Aggarwal said that the officials are actively investigating to identify the Instagram account holder and detect any network involved in the alleged conspiracy.
“We have registered a case against unidentified suspects and his colleagues under Section 66D of BNS section 318 (cheating), 319 (cheating by individual), 112 (punishing organized crime), 62 (attempt to commit crime), public gambling act, 1867, and Section 66D of the IT Act,” said DCP South Zone.
Aggarwal said, “An investigation is underway to detect the Identification of the Instagram account and the suspect of their potential network.”

Bookie may also have relations with players and employees of other teams. The Kashi Rudra team manager recorded a WhatsApp audio call with the suspect, and a complaint was lodged at the police station.
Officials have planned to review the previous matches to find out suspicious activities, while the cyber crime cell bookie’s IP address and Instagram contacts are detected. The Sucis had previously approached two squads living in a five -star hotel in Sushant Golf City.
After the 2013 IPL scandal, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) were banned for two years. The bookies were caught in an attempt to contact the players in the Green Park during the IPL match.
