Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and musician Palash Muchhal have broken their silence on the speculations regarding their canceled marriage. After weeks of rumors ranging from alleged cheating to discussions of new wedding dates, Mandhana and Muchhal released their official statements on social media.
Smriti and Palash’s wedding was originally scheduled to take place on November 23, but the ceremony was put on hold after Mandhana’s father was taken to the hospital. Palash was also admitted to the hospital before being discharged. With both families dealing with medical emergencies, the wedding was postponed indefinitely.
Rumors then began to spread, including claims that Palash had cheated on Mandhana with her wedding choreographer during sangeet preparations, adding further controversy to the canceled plans.
I have to clarify that the wedding has been cancelled- Smriti Mandhana
Smriti Mandhana in her first official statement confirmed that she and Palash Muchhal have decided to cancel their wedding. She said she usually keeps her personal life private but felt it was important to clarify the situation.
“There has been a lot of speculation about my life over the past few weeks and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to make it clear that the wedding has been cancelled,” Mandhana said on Instagram.
Mandhana requested that people stop discussing the matter and respect the privacy of both the families during this difficult period. The southpaw said she wants to focus on her cricket.
She said, “I would like to close this matter here and urge all of you to do the same. I ask that you please respect the privacy of both families at this time and allow us to process and move forward at our own pace.”
“I believe there is a higher purpose driving all of us, and for me that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue playing and winning trophies for India for as long as possible and that will always be my focus.”

I have decided to move forward in my life – Palash Muchhal
The exact reason behind the canceled wedding of Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal remains uncertain. Palash denied the allegations and warned that he would take legal action against anyone spreading false or defamatory claims.
Palash wrote on Instagram, “I have decided to move on with my life and step back from my personal relationship. It has been very difficult for me to see people react so easily to baseless rumors about something that has been most sacred to me. This is the hardest phase of my life and I will deal with it gracefully by sticking to my beliefs. I really hope that we, as a society, will stop judging someone based on unverified gossip.” Will learn to stop, whose sources are never identified.”
He said, “Our words can cause wounds we can never understand. When we think about these things, many people in the world have to face serious consequences. My team will take strict legal action against those who spread false and defamatory content. Thank you to everyone who stood by me with kindness during this difficult time.”
