The South African spinners have started to get some purchase from the Guwahati track as they hunt down the two Indian batsmen who spin quite slowly. After Yashasvi Jaiswal was out, Marco Johnson hung down and took a very fast and low catch.
Unlike the Indian spinners, who complained that the pitch was not very conducive to bowling, the South African spinners bowled and decoded the formula for taking wickets on this comparatively less conducive path. It was observed that the Eden Gardens pitch lacked bounce and the one in Guwahati had enough of it.
Marco Johnson resorted to low sitter to dismiss opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.
After 12 overs between the two fast bowlers, the South African spinners came into the attack. Yashasvi Jaiswal attacked the spinners initially; However, after some upheaval and a half-century partnership for the opening pair, Keshav Maharaj became the first bowler to understand the trick.
The South African spinners began to get a significant amount of spin whenever they bowled a slower ball in the air. Harmer also bowled the ball outside off-stump, slow into the air, and Jaiswal stepped deep into his crease, trying to nudge it back through the cover region.
However, the ball almost hung in the air and took a thick outside edge, and Marco Jensen took a sharp, low catch, diving beyond the point area. Jaiswal’s brilliant innings ended when India fell behind by more than 394 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his first half-century against South Africa
Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal once again impressed with his dynamic batting performances and his impeccable striking power coupled with his strong defensive work rate. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 58 runs before being dismissed by Jaffa.
With the help of seven fours and a six off Simon Harmer, Jaiswal scored his maiden half-century against the Proteas. In this effort, he also scored the first half-century for an Indian player in the series.
No other Indian player has crossed the 40-run mark yet, and Jaiswal scored his first half-century, while South Africa has half-centuries from Temba Bavuma and Marco Jansen, and Senuran Muthusamy also scored his first Test century.
Proteas captured the first session of the third day
The season started with KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal continuing their defensive work rate against the likes of Wiaan Mulder and Marco Jansen. Troubled by Mulder’s accurate line and Jensen’s variation in length, they did not manage to score many runs, but still survived.
Once Jaiswal started facing the spinners and delivering his sweeps, the runs started coming. However, the spinners soon found their groove and reduced the pace, resulting in the dismissal of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul.
Later, a tremendous effort from Rickelton saw Sai Sudarshan also out off the bowling of Harmer and then Dhruv Jurel was out playing the most bizarre pull shot off the bowling of Marco Jansen. By tea on the third day, four wickets had fallen for India.
