After LSG’s horror performance in IPL 2026, captain Rishabh Pant has been accused of flawed decision making and former India cricketer Manoj Tiwary has slammed him.
Lucknow Supergiants have really struggled under the leadership of Rishabh Pant. He has struggled with form since coming into the Super Giants squad, be it their team’s weak bowling lineup in 2025 or their batsmen’s lack of form in 2026.

The Super Giants are currently at the bottom of the points table. They have lost seven matches, six of which have been consecutive. They also lost several low-scoring games, including a defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Super Over.
Manoj Tiwari blamed Rishabh Pant for LSG’s consecutive defeats, saying, “Pant is losing in tactical moves as well.”
Former KKR batsman Manoj Tiwari has raised many questions on Rishabh Pant’s captaincy and his decision-making abilities for Lucknow Super Giants after their seventh defeat of the season.
In a must-win situation, when LSG needed to make a comeback to keep their chances alive for the playoffs of this edition of the IPL, LSG suffered another defeat by 6 wickets after posting a commendable score of 228 runs in their 20 overs.

He pointed out that Rishabh Pant’s poor captaincy was once again exposed during the outing, as players like Mohammed Shami and Mohsin Khan were giving away a lot of runs, but the captain did nothing to stop the flow of runs.
“Pant is also losing out on strategic moves. In the match against Mumbai, Prince Yadav was the only economical bowler and that was because he was bowling yorkers. As a captain, you should have asked other bowlers to follow that plan,” he said on Cricbuzz.
Former KKR star questions Arjun Tendulkar’s absence despite LSG’s struggles in IPL 2026
Rohit Sharma was scoring runs freely from the length, while he only had to struggle when a bowler could bowl a yorker. Prince Yadav was the only bright spot for the Super Giants, maintaining a low economy of 8. A highlight of his spell was his accurate yorker.
After watching him, Tiwary not only criticized Pant for not asking others to implement the same strategy but also questioned the absence of Arjun Tendulkar, who has been seen bowling yorkers in the nets for LSG.
Manoj Tiwary said, “I also saw the videos posted by LSG on social media, which showed Arjun Tendulkar bowling yorkers in the nets. So Pant could have brought them. That is where MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma differ as captains.”
Rishabh Pant admitted that poor form with the bat affected LSG’s play
Rishabh Pant admitted that his poor form with the bat led to the defeat by Lucknow Super Giants. After a brilliant start to the innings from Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh, LSG could not manage to maintain the pace of the innings.
He was out in the match after scoring just 15 runs off just 10 balls and he also admitted that his lack of contribution with the bat had an impact on the outcome of the match, as some more runs could have been added if he had stayed at the crease longer.
