Experienced South African and Delhi Capitals (DC) fast bowler Lungi Ngidi demolished the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batting order at the Ekana Stadium on Wednesday, April 1. He single-handedly took 3 wickets giving only 27 runs in his 3.4 over spell.
The home team, Lucknow Super Giants, did not perform well with the bat at home. Apart from their opener Mitchell Marsh and middle-order batsman Abdul Samad, the rest of LSG’s batting looked weak against the DC bowling attack. Delhi’s bowling unit looked more aggressive as Lungi Ngidi was in form tonight.
In his effective spell, the fast bowler dismissed Nicholas Pooran, Mohsin Khan and Anrich Nortje. Pooran’s wicket was very important for DC on Tuesday, as the West Indies batsman can be dangerous in this format of the game. A slow, full-length delivery from Lungi Ngidi bowled out the batsman.

During the innings break, the fast bowler credited Dwayne Bravo for reshaping his bowling. Former West Indies all-rounder Bravo, who was notorious for his slow pace, taught Ngidi how to do it. The delivery that took the bundle of Puran was about 112 boxes.
After the end of the first innings, Lungi Ngidi told how Bravo helped him in his bowling. Meanwhile, the former cricketer is now a coach in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team.
“Trying to use the bigs, we know what kind of ball-striker he is. There’s no pace to work with, trying to get him in the air. Also used the dip. The last one was the best wicket, the wide slow yorker is the hardest for me to execute. At the World Cup, I mentioned that Bravo had told me I needed a deceptively slow ball.
