During the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Match No. 59 between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), LSG fast bowler Akash Singh performed excellently on the night as he got his first game in the IPL 2026. This was their first game in a year, as they last played in the same month of May in 2025.
Akash Singh took three wickets in the match and finished with his best bowling figures of 4/26 from his four overs. The left-arm fast bowler took big wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad (13), Sanju Samson (20) and Urvil Patel (6). He bowled with excellent line and length, which impressed everyone in the commentary box and also his owner MR. Sanjeev Goenka.
Note says everything- Sanjiv Goenka praises Akash Singh
Akash Singh celebrates after taking the first wicket of his former captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. Gaikwad went for a pull shot and with wrong timing it hit the top of the bat and went towards mid-on and Nicholas Pooran took an easy catch.
After that, he took out a note which read: “#Aakash on fire – Aakash knows how to take wickets in a T20 game.” He has been one of the finest talents in Indian cricket, but he has not got enough opportunities and his performances have been inconsistent and injury prone.

Akash Singh’s release begins?
Before this match vs CSK in IPL 2026, Akash Singh had played 10 matches in the tournament, taking nine wickets. He was a part of the Men in Yellow team, but he did not get enough opportunities in the team. Akash has also made a slight change in his run-up as his chest has now become a little more open while releasing the ball.
He made his debut for Rajasthan Royals in 2021, playing only one game, taking 2 for 40. But the fast bowler has warmed the bench most of the time. With LSG out of the competition and getting a chance to play, he needs to remodel himself to become a starter next season and perform in every possible match from now on.
