South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock scored a century during the third and final ODI against India at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, December 6. Proteas fans were delighted with the left-handed batsman’s century against the match-winning Indian bowling attack.
KL Rahul chose to bowl in the third ODI, ending India’s 20-match long streak of losing the toss. Arshdeep Singh made the initial strike with the new ball. Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma rescued South Africa well, adding 113 runs from 121 balls for the second wicket. Despite the fall of early wickets, De Kock scored runs at a fast pace.

Quinton de Kock scored his seventh ODI century against India. He now has the joint-most ODI centuries against India in the 50-over format. With the century, he equaled Sanath Jayasuriya’s tally of seven centuries against the Men in Blue.
The Sri Lankan legend took 85 innings to score seven centuries, while De Kock needed only 23 innings. He has left behind Ricky Ponting, AB de Villiers and Kumar Sangakkara, who have six each.
De Kock has scored 23 ODI centuries as the designated wicketkeeper. He shares the top spot with Kumar Sangakkara for most ODI centuries by a wicketkeeper in cricket history. The list of wicketkeepers also includes Shai Hope, Adam Gilchrist, Jos Buttler, AB de Villiers and MS Dhoni.
