Liza Williams takes India’s revenge on Sahibzada Farhan, blows are exchanged

During the first T20 match between Pakistan and South Africa at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, 28 October, Lizaad Williams gave India the perfect opportunity for revenge by clean bowling Sahibzada Farhan in dramatic fashion.

Attacking at pace, Lizaad Williams bowled a lethal length ball which slipped and crashed into the off and middle stump as Farhan attempted an attractive cut. The Pakistan batsman, who was hitting confidently with four fours in his 24 off 19 balls, was stunned as the stumps flew.

As the bells flew, Lizard Williams celebrated in style, ending LeBron James’ celebration. The South African fast bowler copied American basketball player LeBron Ramone James’s iconic “The Silencer” celebration right in front of Farhan in Rawalpindi.

Williams raised one knee and pushed down with both hands in furious fashion before completing another LeBron James crown celebration to celebrate Farhan’s wicket, relieving the pressure on the South African team. The Proteas bowler imitated by placing a crown on his head.

Now, the clip of Lizaad Williams’ celebration went viral on social media platforms, with many linking it to the Asia Cup 2025 incident where Sahibzada Farhan celebrated his half-century against India in a controversial manner. Farhan celebrated his half-century by “firing the gun” in front of the Indian team and crowd.

Meanwhile, the second-tier South African team, missing seven key players due to rest and injuries, recorded a thumping 55-run win over Pakistan to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20 series. The Proteas scored 194 for 9 after a fast start thanks to Reeza Hendricks’ 60 off 40 balls.

The opener gave his team the early momentum by scoring 74 runs in the powerplay and capped an opening partnership of 44 runs between Hendricks and Quinton de Kock, who scored 23 runs in just 13 balls. Debutant Tony De Zorzi impressed with 33 off 16 balls, before Mohammad Nawaz interrupted the match with 3 for 26.

George Linde scored 36 runs in 22 balls and provided late fireworks. Chasing the target, Pakistan were never able to find any rhythm as South African fast bowler Corbin Bosch took 4 for 14, while Linde took 3 for 31, leaving Pakistan all out for 139 in 18.1 overs.

Opener Saim Ayub scored 37 runs in 28 balls with the help of four sixes and Nawaz scored a quick 36 runs in 20 balls. Babar Azam was out for a duck, while Lizaad Williams returned with two wickets in the first T20 match on Tuesday.

Pakistan wears pink kit for breast cancer awareness

In a touching gesture, Pakistan players wore pink kits to promote breast cancer awareness, while South African players wore pink ribbons.

With this victory, South Africa has taken a 1-0 lead in the ongoing three-match T20 series against Pakistan. The second and final T20 match will be played on 31 October and 1 November at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
