Bangladesh T20 captain Liton Das and experienced fast bowler Taskin Ahmed will both miss the upcoming three-match T20 series against Zimbabwe. According to Cricbuzz, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has issued No Objection Certificate (NOC) to both the players for the Lanka Premier League (LPL), which will start from July 17 to August 8.

Since the board has provided them with the necessary NOC, Liton Das and Taskin Ahmed will be participating in the Sri Lankan franchise league, instead of representing the national team in Zimbabwe. Liton Das and Taskin Ahmed along with Mahdi Hasan, Hasan Mahmood and Shakib Al Hasan have received NOC for the LPL.

Bangladesh to face Zimbabwe in multiple formats

The Tiger Brigade will tour Zimbabwe for a multi-format series starting from July 28. The series will start with a one-off Test, followed by a 3-match ODI series and then a 3-match T20I series.

“They (Liton and Taskin) are not part of the Zimbabwe T20I as they have been given NOC for the LPL. Apart from Liton Das and Taskin Ahmed, Mehdi Hasan, Hasan Mahmood and Shakib Al Hasan have also been given NOC for the LPL,” BCB cricket operations in-charge Shahryar Nafees confirmed the development to Cricbuzz.

Liton Das can play the only test

Liton Das is expected to be ruled out of the entire T20 series against Australia due to a muscle strain, but is expected to take part in the upcoming one-off Test. Due to Lanka Premier League, he will not even play in the T20 series against Zimbabwe.

Taskin Ahmed may join the national ODI team, but his inclusion has not been finalized yet. Before the one-off Test against Zimbabwe, the Bangladesh Cricket Board arranged a special camp in Sylhet, but the camp was washed out due to rain.

The board official further informed that a group of cricketers will leave from Dhaka on June 21 for the Test and the rest of the team will travel to Zimbabwe later.

“Members of the Test team who are not involved in white-ball cricket will leave for Zimbabwe on Sunday (July 21),” Nafees said.
