Congratulations Joe Root. Fantastic – Ricky Ponting
Ravi Shastri and Ricky Ponting were making on-air commentary, when the root became the second biggest run-song in the history of Test cricket. Former head coach of India said:
“You go there. The number 2 in the list is the route. As he moves beyond the great Ricky Ponting. And now only the great person is behind Sachin Tendulkar.”
Meanwhile, Ricky Ponting congratulated Joe Root for breaking his record and labeled the moment as luxurious. He also said that the route can go all the way on the top and cross the god of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar, to become a leading run-song in Test cricket history. Ponting said:
“Congratulations Joe Root. Fantastic. Second on the table. 129 out. Outside. This crowd on the ground is very knowledgeable in Old Trafford. All are standing as a great moment in history. And as you said Ravi, just one more to go now.
“About two and a half thousand runs are behind. But the way his career has gone in the last four or five years, it is not a reason.”
