Liam Dawson rejected Yashsvi Jaiswal to claim first Test wicket after 2,928 days in Manchester

The 35-year-old England National cricket team spin-bouling all-rounder Liam Dawson has dreamed the Test team after eight years.

Liam Dawson did not take too much time to create an impact and took his first Test wicket in eight years after dismissing Yashsvi Jaiswal, the batsman of the India National Cricket Team at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Liam Dawson takes a Test wicket after a gap of 2,928 days

Dawson has been a standout artist in county cricket, but was constantly ignored by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Selection Committee.

He was removed from the Test to play XI after 2017, and his expectations for a comeback made another hit when Ben Stokes showed confidence in the young Shoaib Bashir to handle spin-bowling duties in red-goes cricket.

However, Shoaib Bashir’s injury at the Lord’s Test opened the doors for Liam Dawson to return a Test, and was immediately sloted to the playing XI for the Manchester Test.

Dawson took only seven balls in his first spell to take wickets as he rejected Yashsvi Jiswal on the first ball of the 41st over. He bowled a good length ball outside the off-stump, and Yashasvi Jaiswal put it in the first slip of Harry Brook.

Meanwhile, Liam Dawson took a wicket in Test cricket after an interval of eight years, 2928 days and 102 tests for the England National Cricket Team.

Dawson celebrated wildly after taking wickets and speaking on-air, Dinesh Karthik praised the spinner. He said:

Former Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik said on Sky Sports, “Liam Dawson should really be proud of himself. The first over (he) brought some (revolutions on the ball), hit in the right areas and the second wicket was found.

“Is there a wicket, and what a feeling should this be for Dawson. It took him eight years to get his opportunity … and Yashasvi Jaiswal, to get fantastic.”

And with Bashir’s injury, this was the only direction – Nasar Hussain

Speaking on Sky Sports before the start of the game, Nasar Hussain said that Liam Dawson has made significant improvements in his game. He explained in detail:

“Yes, about time. I mean, he has been, I was going to knock down the door, but he really said last year that he had left the Test match playing cricket. It was not for him, or he did not think so, but he claimed a claim that you just couldn’t ignore and with Bashir’s injury, it was the only direction.

“Whoever has seen him playing in a fan of county cricket, any Hampshire, the way he has gone, and he continues to improve. And whatever we have talked about, he is stokes and cast and a lion’s heart, you can also speak about this child.”

“This child is a difficult contestant. And when you come into the mid-series and you have to wait eight years for your next Test match, you need to tick a little. This child has shown that he has got a lot of tick. Absolutely, 100%.”
