After Rahul Dravid’s exit, Kumar Sangakkara has been again appointed as the head coach of Rajasthan Royals. Kumar Sangakkara is the director of RR of Cricket since 2021.
Former Rajasthan Royals’ head coach, Rahul Dravid, signed a multi-year contract with the side, but it ended in a short term, as the former India coach participated with the franchise. The franchise claimed that Dravid was given a widespread position, but he had chosen not to take it.
Amid dilemma on the retention of Sanju Samson for the upcoming IPL season, Rajasthan Royals have considered back the experienced coach, under which Samson led the franchise in the IPL final after a huge interval.
Kumar Sangakkara to return to Rajasthan Royals in a lead role
The director of Cricket’s Rajasthan Royals, Kumar Sangakkara, as the head coach of the IPL franchise, is fully prepared to return to the Royals Coaching Staff after Rahul Dravid’s exit. According to the latest reports by Espncricinfo, Cricket’s RR is firming for the position with the director franchise.
Since 2021, Sangkara has doubled for the roles of director and head coach. Under his watch, Skipar, Sanju Samson, after winning back in 2008, led the franchise in the final for the first time in IPL 2022 as well as the franchise in the playoffs in the final.
He will again play the role after Rahul Dravid, who was hired by the franchise as a head coach by the franchise soon after winning the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, after his exit after the 2025 IPL season.

It has also been learned that Rajasthan Royals have maintained former Indian batsman Vikram Rathore as an assistant coach and former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond is also likely to continue in the role of his bowling coach.
It is understood that the former partner of Kumar Sangakkara, Trevor Penny and Siddharth Lahiri, who were part of both Sangakkara’s assistant employees, can be re -appointed by Rajasthan Royals.
