Proving all the speculations that gathered momentum just days after the conclusion of the IPL 2026 season, Kuldeep Yadav has officially left Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2027 season. The left-arm wrist spinner will be seen playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the next Indian Premier League season.
Delhi Capitals (DC) have confirmed the development through an official announcement. At a time when Yadav’s departure has been officially confirmed, DC has shared an emotional video on the social media platform from its official social media account.
Delhi Capitals shared an emotional video
The video showed the bonding between Capitals captain Akshar Patel and Yadav. Kuldeep mentioned that when he joined the franchise in 2022, he was struggling with his form. But the franchise showed a lot of faith and signed him ahead of the IPL 2022 season.
The IPL 2022 season marks a turning point for the spinner. In that season, he took 21 wickets in 14 matches and the same number of innings. So far, this remains the best season of his Indian Premier League career. 2026 was not good for him on an individual basis and also for the team.
The experienced spinner took only 10 wickets in 11 innings with an expensive economy rate of over 10. In two back-to-back seasons, Delhi played many matches promisingly but missed opportunities to secure their place in the playoffs.
Kuldeep Yadav reflects on the importance of DC in his career
After the 2026 season, it became clear that the franchise is going to take some big steps to improve its performance in the upcoming campaign. As a big step, the franchise has decided to remove Kuldeep Yadav from the team. From LSG, it is star keeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant, who will be joining the Delhi-based franchise for the upcoming season.
“When I joined the DC team in 2022, I was struggling with my form and was also coming back from injury, and that season I got a chance to play 14 consecutive games and perform really well. Joining DC was the turning point of my career because you know things were not going really well, and then and one season, when I played for Delhi, and obviously everything changed,” Kuldeep Yadav said of himself in the video shared by Delhi Capitals. Expressed.
I think I miss my partner Akshar Patel
This is a tough moment for captain Axar Patel, as he has formed a strong bond with Kuldeep Yadav by using his superb spin bowling skills. With a heavy heart, Patel says that without Kuldeep, it feels like missing a companion.
“He (Kuldeep Yadav) has a positive attitude. He is very hardworking. Like he wins trophies and so on. He is a great bond. I think I miss my partner. That’s why I said he is a great person and what he can do. He makes the team win on his own. When I started playing cricket, there was no Chinaman spinner, no Western spinner. And when you are able to do something, you are not left behind. Step aside,” Akshar Patel said in the same video.
You came into our lives and our whole world turned upside down. Delhi was lucky to see your magic, and we loved every part of it
