Krishnamachari Srikkanth criticizes Team India for sticking with Tilak Verma

Tilak Verma’s struggle continues: The India vs England 3rd T20 match ended in a most unusual fashion for the Men in Blue as they suffered a 125-run defeat to the Three Lions even as they took a 2-0 lead over the reigning T20 World Cup champions. Shreyas Iyer and his team were bowled out for just 76 runs in the match, which resulted in their second lowest total in T20I cricket.

Vice-captain Tilak Verma once again failed in the match as he was out for 3 runs in 11 balls, as the string of low scores continued for the southpaw. He has only one good score in the last few innings, which has raised questions about his status as the vice-captain of the team. Tilak has been criticized for his poor form.

Tilak Verma’s struggle continues

Ahead of the fourth T20, former India opener and chief selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth has taken a dig at Tilak, questioning his selection and mocking him for being appointed vice-captain. He also came in to bat below Axar Patel at number 6, a position which was questioned by the 1983 World Cup winner.

Tilak has scored 19, 55, 13, 24 not out and 3 in his last five innings but has struggled to make a significant impact. His only major contribution was a courageous innings of 55 against Ireland, which resulted in a tight one-run defeat.

“I want to play Sanju Samson instead of Tilak Verma” – Krish Srikkanth wants India to remove Tilak Verma

Krishnamachari Srikkanth jokingly said that Tilak is already Shreyas Iyer’s deputy and will soon lead the team. Right now he has no idea, because he is afraid of facing fast bowlers and is waiting to bat against spinners. The former India batsman said that he would prefer to play Sanju Samson instead of Tilak.

Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel, “He is already the vice-captain and it looks like he will soon become the captain as well. Tilak himself must have said that he does not want to go out considering the pace and bounce. He is ignorant. I myself want to play Sanju Samson instead of Tilak Verma.”

“You make Tilak your main batsman and vice-captain. Still, why are you protecting him against fast bowling? They are sending Axar Patel ahead of him. It is clear that they are trying to protect Tilak Verma because they know he is weak against short-pitched bowling. I have been continuously saying that he should be removed. But they do not remove him.”

“What actions is the think tank doing?”- Kris Srikkanth took a jibe at Gautam Gambhir.

Srikkanth also hit out at India’s team management and head coach Gautam Gambhir, claiming that the Men in Blue had messed up the batting order in the last game, with Harshit Rana coming ahead of Shivam Dubey and Axar Patel, which backfired.

“They also sent Harshit Rana ahead of Shivam Dubey. What antics is the thinktank doing? Shivam Dubey. Of course we know that when there is pace and bounce, the job gets done. It was almost as if once he saw the pitch, he was happy to get out and run. Dubey can only do something when a spinner bowls slowly into the slot on a flat track. Archer is laughing while bowling to him, Srikanth said.
