‘It doesn’t matter if they come’ – Krishnamachari Srikkanth gives blunt verdict on Pakistan’s boycott threat: The India vs Pakistan match is the marquee match of the 2026 T20 World Cup. However, there is an ongoing feud between the two countries. After Pakistan announced that they will play the T20 World Cup but will not take the field against India, the following was a social media post by the Pakistan government on Sunday on the matter.
Since then, many former players and pundits have shared their views on the ongoing rift between the two countries. Now India’s former World Cup winner Krishnamachari Srikkanth has left his comment on the dispute between India and Pakistan.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth took a funny joke on Pakistan
He gave a big statement on the danger to Pakistan if it does not play against India. He believes that Pakistan is scared of India, and this match will be a ‘walkover’ for Suryakumar Yadav’s team anyway; He also made fun of arch rivals.
Speaking on the YouTube channel ‘Cheeky Cheeka’, Krishnamachari Srikkanth said, “Empty vessels make more noise. Pakistan is scared. Now, even in the U19 World Cup, they lost. So they are thinking of giving walkovers. Whether they play or not, the game is anyway a walkover for India. It doesn’t matter whether they come or not. Asia Cup, they played all the games against India.”
Pakistan’s prospects look serious
This match is to be held on 15 February at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This will be the 9th time that the two teams will face each other in a T20 World Cup competition, with India having the upper hand having won 7 of their last 8 meetings in the competitions and Pakistan having only one win in 2021.
Pakistan remains firm on its stance of not going against India; However, he is not getting any support from other board members either. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also did not submit any formal letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the matter, as social media posts are not considered formal by the apex body.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth selected World Cup finalist
Apart from speaking on the India vs Pakistan controversy, Krishnamachari Srikkanth also talked about the probable World Cup semi-finalists and the favorites for the tournament. “I think India, England, South Africa and Australia will play the semi-finals. I think the final should be between India and Australia. They will be India’s nearest rivals,” he said.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth believes that Australia is an equal powerhouse along with India, and also expressed concerns about the Australian bowling attack and their ability to defend the total. Krishnamachari Srikkanth said, “Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Tim David, Maxwell and Green. If any two of these five go, they have a powerhouse batting like India. But there is no scope in their bowling.”
With three days left for the mega T20 event in India and Sri Lanka, the teams are gearing up, and the excitement is also building for the fans as India take on the United States in the final game of the first day.
