Kris Srikkanth criticizes Hemang Badani for mocking Stephen Fleming

Former India captain Kris Srikkanth has criticized Delhi Capitals (DC) head coach Hemang Badani for his old comments on CSK head coach Stephen Fleming.

Srikkanth repeated his old words after DC’s 9-wicket loss to RCB on April 28.

DC loses to RCB

After being invited to bat at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Delhi Capitals had the worst start in IPL history. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood combined to take three wickets each in the powerplay and DC also recorded the lowest powerplay score in IPL history.

Impact player Abhishek Porel scored a fighting 30, helping DC avoid the lowest team score in IPL history, but they ended up scoring just 75 runs.

Devdutt Padikkal’s unbeaten 34 ensured that RCB completed the chase in just 6.3 overs, although they lost the wicket of Jacob Bethel.

During the match, Virat Kohli became the first player to score 9,000 runs in IPL.

Badani, who was appointed DC head coach in 2025, had given an interview in the same year where he was talking to former Delhi Capitals player Yo Mahesh.

At one point in the chat, Badani questioned the credentials of CSK head coach Stephen Fleming and took aim at the Kiwis’ lack of success in T20 leagues outside the IPL.

“If Fleming is such a great coach, why hasn’t he won anywhere else other than IPLBadani had asked. ”CSK is winning because of Dhoni. Dhoni is the kingpin… If someone says Fleming is a good coach, I would not agree with it,” he said.

“He spoke too much” – Chris Srikkanth on Badani

Chris Srikkanth took to his YouTube channel to criticize Badani’s past words and the team’s current performance. Kris Srikkanth targeted Badani after criticizing Delhi’s batting.

“Apart from all this, Hemang Badani went after Stephen Fleming,” chris srikanth Angry “Hey Hemang. Take care of yourself before talking about others. I have always said this: ‘In life, don’t talk too much.’ He talks too much. Now, he has to keep quiet and watch everything happen.”

“Everyone is picking on it and criticizing him. Why talk about others? You should have been conscious of your work. Who are you to say that Stephen Fleming won only because of MS Dhoni? What have you done? Something special? Nothing.”

Under Badani’s leadership as head coach, DC got off to a strong start to the season by failing to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs despite winning each of their first four matches.

After this, Kris Srikkanth raised questions on DC management for poor strategy in the match. He asked why 18-year-old debutant Sahil Parakh was allowed to take strike instead of in-form KL Rahul.

Srikkanth also asked why the more experienced Prithvi Shaw did not get a place in the playing XI while Kishore Parakh was left out of the deep end.
