Kochi Tuskers Kerala was abolished by the BCCI after only 14 matches due to the deadline of a missed bank guarantee. Now, after more than a decade, the case has taken a dramatic turn. Last week, the Bombay High Court ordered the BCCI to pay Rs 538 crore, which was paying Rs 538 crore for the franchise so far.

Mahela Jayawardane, Brendon McCullum, and Ravindra Jadeja still unpaid after 13 years
Thirteen years have passed, but these players have not yet been fully paid for their time with the franchise. The report wrote, “Mahela Jayawardane, who captained the Kochi franchise, signed the team’s most expensive signature for Rs 6.80 crore. Bombay High Court ordered BCCI to pay Rs 550 crore to Kochi Tusker Kerala
Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court ruled in favor of Kochi Tuskers Kerala and ordered BCCI to pay Rs 550 crore. This includes Rs 384 crore and Rs 153 crore from KCPL.
The now-dift is now struggling with the IPL franchise and BCCI 2011, when the board ended the Kochi Tuskers Kerala contract, when the team failed to pay their annual franchise fee. The franchise, which was bought on a large scale for Rs 1,550 crore, challenged the verdict and won the mediation in 2015.
The BCCI tried to fight the verdict in the court, but the Bombay High Court upheld mediation, saying that the board had misused the team’s bank guarantee, which broke the terms of the contract. With this decision, the legal battle is finally ending, and the BCCI will now have to pay.
The court order stated, “The jurisdiction of this court under Section 34 of the Arbitration Act is very limited. The BCCI’s effort to engage in the properties of the dispute is in the teeth of the scope of the base contained in Section 34 of the Act. The dissatisfaction of the BCCI cannot be provided in relation to this.”
