Team India cricketer KL Rahul dropped a difficult catch of South African batsman Aiden Markram during the third day of the second Test (Monday, November 24) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who scored the edge, was disappointed as the ball went away for a boundary.
The Men in Blue team captained by Rishabh Pant was all out for just 201 runs in the first innings. Openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 65 runs for the first wicket, but the middle order failed to perform well. The home team was reduced to 122/7 before Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav stitched a 72-run partnership.
Watch: KL Rahul drops Aiden Markram’s catch in the second innings
South Africa chose to bat again and Aiden Markram had more luck at slip. KL Rahul, who had already dismissed Markram in the first innings, missed him once again at second slip in the second innings.
Jasprit Bumrah bowled a brilliant outswinger on good length which took the outside edge of Markram. Rahul dived to his right and got his fingers on the ball, but it did not stick, giving the opener early relief. With this, Markram has now been dismissed twice in the match, once in each innings.

IND vs SA 2025 India’s shocking batting performance on the third day of the second test
India faced bad batting on the third day of the second Test in Guwahati. They fell from a strong position of 94/1 in their first innings to a surprising score of 122/7. This came in response to South Africa’s mammoth total of 489 runs which they needed to win.
Yashasvi Jaiswal gave India a steady start by scoring a good half-century, but three wickets before lunch opened the doors for the visiting team. After the break, Rishabh Pant was out to a careless shot, and Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravindra Jadeja were destroyed by sharp bouncers from Marco Jensen.
India ultimately scored only 201 runs, giving South Africa a huge lead of 288 runs. A 72-run partnership between Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav helped slow the collapse, but the partnership could not prevent India from giving the Proteas a huge advantage.
South Africa opposes follow-on as India needs a miracle
South Africa bowled out India for only 201 runs, less than half of their first innings total, but decided not to follow on despite a huge lead of 288 runs. He again opted to bat and set a final innings target for India in the second Test.
With the lights dimming in Guwahati, openers Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton came out to face Jasprit Bumrah and the new ball as South Africa began their second innings.
The series win will be historic for the spectators. The Proteas have not won a Test series in India since a 2–0 win in 1999–2000. India have won three of the last five competitions, with the 2007/08 and 2009/10 series ending in a 1–1 draw. This is also South Africa’s first red-ball tour of India since 2019/20, when they lost 0-3.
