The India national cricket team is facing the Afghanistan national cricket team for a one-off Test at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh. KL Rahul had scored a brilliant century on this very ground on the first day of the test match. But immediately after scoring the century, Rahmanullah Gurbaz took a sharp catch and was out.
KL Rahul showed amazing class on the first day as he remained calm from the beginning of the innings and took his time to score a century. The opening batsman achieved this feat in 164 balls, but luck favored him during the match. This was his 12th century in the traditional format of the game, 9 of which he scored as an opening batsman.

KL Rahul out after scoring a century
The Karnataka batsman has now been out on his third consecutive Test century, for which he has been out on exactly 100. First, 100 (177) at Lord’s in England in 2025, then 100 (197) against West Indies and today 100 (165) against Afghanistan. After his wicket, along with him, Shubman Gill also got disappointed and put his hands on his head in despair.

Rahul hit 11 fours in his entire innings. This century follows a stellar form in 2025, when he scored 813 runs in ten matches and cemented his place in India’s top order. Rahul’s first game as the new vice-captain of the team went well.
KL Rahul scored his third century on home ground
KL Rahul has been one of the most prolific batsmen across all formats of world cricket. Team India’s opening batsman has also been the most flexible batsman and can bat wherever the team wants him to bat, as he plays in the middle order in the ODI format and opens in the longest format of the game. He has always stood up for the Men in Blue.
Interestingly, all 9 of his 12 centuries have come from home, which shows his amazing talent, flexibility and control in the tough conditions of the SENA countries, where he has 7 centuries to his name, five in England, two in South Africa and one in Australia.
