He was not first selected for informal tests, but the BCCI had already confirmed that “KL Rahul and Mohammad Sirj would be added to the squad for the second multi-day match and will replace two players in the team after the 1 multi-day match.”

The second and final informal test between India A and Australia A was already going on in Lucknow on Tuesday, 23 September. KL Rahul N. Siraj was prepared to open with Jagadisin, while Siraj was already sent to bowl against Australia A on the day of inauguration.

This outing will give both Rahul and Siraj a very important game before returning to action for the Indian cricket team in the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies.

The first test will be held from October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, while the second and final test will be played from October 10 at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi.

Shreyas Iyer draws out a series from India

Meanwhile, India, a captain, Shreyas Iyer, has taken out the second and final four -day matches against Australia A in Lucknow. Iyer’s sudden verdict has left Vice-Capten, Dhruv Jurlel, who is to take over as a leader in the final red-ball game against Australia A.

The exact reason behind the return of Shreyas Iyer is still not confirmed. But Cricbuzz reported that the right -handed batsman has returned to Mumbai after the first informal test match, which ended in a draw in Lucknow on 19 September.

He reportedly informed the BCCI of his unavailable, citing personal reasons, but the real reason behind his step has not yet appeared. This development comes at a time when Iyer’s career is under the radar.

Despite an impressive IPL 2025 campaign earlier this year, Iyer was released from India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates.

And then many people hoped that India would help a game push him to a test return, but things have not gone to the plan. Iyer was rejected for only eight runs, failing to make the kind of impact the kind of red-ball match against Australia A in the first red-ball match.

Now, Dhruv Jurael is playing a dual role of both the captain and wicketkeeper-bitter for India in the ongoing red-ball match in Lucknow.

It is being said that Jurel will be selected as the first choice wicketkeeper for the upcoming testing series against the West Indies, as Rishabh Pant has yet to achieve match fitness in NCA in Bengaluru.
