Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their IPL 2024 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad this Saturday. The two-time IPL winners were far from their best in the previous year’s campaign. KKR finished in seventh place in 2023, missing out on the playoffs. They had secured just six wins in 14 games. KKR played their last game against the Lucknow Super Giants and conceded a narrow 1-run defeat. With Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc’s arrival to the Shah Rukh Khan-co-owned franchise this season, KKR will likely see some changes in the squad’s mentality and approach. Former skipper Gautam Gambhir will also play an important role in the 2024 campaign as the squad’s new mentor.
KKR’s tournament opener against SRH will be played at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata on March 23. SRH will be pumped to compete in the upcoming season with Australia skipper Pat Cummins at their helm. Given that Cummins has been a crucial part of KKR in the last decade while also winning the trophy with the side in 2014, his tournament opener could be a spicy affair. SRH performed quite poorly in 2023, finishing in last place with just four wins in 14 games. They will now be looking to start their tournament on a winning note.
In the third match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday.
