KKR signs Lavnith Sisodia as replacement for Mathisha Pathirana after fast bowler’s IPL 2026 injury

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have announced that wicketkeeper batsman Lavnith Sisodia will not be replacing Mathisha Pathirana for IPL 2026.

Kolkata Knight Riders have already had a tough 2026 season, as the three-time former IPL champions lost most of their opening matches in the IPL 2026 season. Knight Riders are currently placed sixth in the points table with 13 points and are still in the race for the playoffs.

Lavnith Sisodia replaces Mathisha Pathirana in KKR

Star speedster Mathisha Pathirana was included at a whopping price of Rs 18 crore. He moved from Chennai Super Kings and was one of the two most expensive players in the IPL 2026 mini-auction.

The fast bowler missed most of the season as the Sri Lankan Cricket Board did not give him an NOC due to the delay in rehabilitation following the injury he suffered in the ICC T20 World Cup. He returned to action for just eight balls against Gujarat Titans before leaving the field due to another injury.

He was ruled out for the season due to a hamstring injury and KKR has now confirmed Lavigneth Sisodia as his replacement. Sisodia has previously worked as a wicketkeeper-batsman for RCB and Knight Riders in the IPL. He can also be a replacement for injured wicketkeeper Angkrish Raghuvanshi.
