On the second day of May 2026, Delhi Capitals (DC) opener KL Rahul shared some of these pictures through an Instagram post. One of the pictures shows the batsman wearing an expensive black sling-back. Along with his followers, former England batsman and former Delhi Capitals coaching staff Kevin Pietersen made a random comment.
KL Rahul shared memories of April
Rahul shared a total of 8 photos in the Instagram post. Basically, he wants to create a collage of memories of April 2026. The past month was a crucial one for the versatile batsman, who is now playing as an opening batsman for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2026 season.
In the ongoing Indian Premier League so far, the 34-year-old DC keeper-batsman has scored 433 runs at an average of 54.12 and a strike rate of 185.83. He is currently the leading run-scorer in the tournament and also has the Orange Cap for scoring so many runs. Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Abhishek Sharma is at the second position with 425 runs in 9 IPL 2026 matches. Rahul’s IPL 2026 figures are supported by three half-centuries and one century so far. He also shared notable occasions with DC through Instagram posts.

Amidst all those attractive pictures, the picture of the black sling bag has become the focal point of the post due to Kevin Pietersen’s comment.
Kevin Pietersen commented on the post, “Please remove that bag photo! WTAF.” KL Rahul did not take much time to reply. “Please keep doing 6-7,” said the star batsman.

Pietersen stepped down as mentor of Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the IPL 2026 season citing his inability to commit the required time to the role. He was appointed to the role in February 2025 for the 2025 season. During his one-year stint as the coaching member of the team, Delhi Capitals showed promising performances but missed out on making the play-offs in IPL 2025.
Rahul takes a dig at Pietersen going to Maldives in the middle of IPL 2025
During that period, Pietersen and Rahul shared a close relationship with each other. When the former cricketer went to Maldives for a holiday in the middle of the campaign, KL Rahul took the opportunity to make some funny comments.
“A mentor is someone who goes to the Maldives for two weeks in the middle of the season,” KL Rahul had said in a video posted by DC in 2025.
Meanwhile, during his days as an active cricketer, Kevin Pietersen played for the Delhi-based franchise as a batsman. Pietersen made his IPL debut with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009, after which he was signed for a record amount of US$1.5 million.
