The long wait of Karun Nair to return to the India National Cricket Team once promised to return the fairy-story, but the reality has become very glamorous. Karun Nair is unlikely to find a place with Indian selectors on September 24 to finalize the squad for the upcoming two -match Test series against the West Indies.
The 33 -year -old batsman spoke openly about his wish for another chance in international cricket. The opportunity came to England during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy earlier this year. But the five -match test series that has given him a lifeline, has also left him unsafe in every eye.
Selector ready to move beyond Karun Nair after England’s failure
In four trials and eight innings, Karun Nair scored only 205 runs at an average of just 25. The India-England Test series dominated the batsmen as more than 7,000 runs were scored, with batsmen to kill 21 centuries and 29 half-centuries.

In that run-fest, Karun Nair could only manage a half-century, and the way he lost his wickets, the national selectors would not ignore. After the tour of England, he is absent from action, and it will go against the batsman when the selectors sit for the selection of the test squad.
On the other hand, Devdutt Padikkal has erupted in controversy in the right moment. The left -handed batsman reminded everyone as a brilliant 150 for India against Australia -A side in Lucknow as a brilliant 150.
He was also a part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, making him a front-colon to replace Karun Nair in the Test Squad for the upcoming Test series.
India’s batting core remains unchanged for the West Indies Test
Meanwhile, there will be no wholesale changes in the Indian test side. The batting core is expected to be intact, leading the charge with Shubman Gill, supported by Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudhrashan and KL Rahul. Devdutt Padikkal is confirmed to remember everyone.
In the all-round department, India will continue to trust Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel on its reliable spin-bouncing trio, with Kuldeep Yadav adding the wrist-spin variety for the upcoming test series against the West Indies at home.
In the first informal trial, Dhruv Jurael’s 140 against Australia A has sealed everyone as the first choice wicketkeeper, when Rishabh Pant was allegedly excluded from the test series against the West Indies.
N Jagadisin, who portrayed a replacement during the England series, is expected to be selected as a backup wicketkeeper.

Akash deep to miss home test series
The motion attack features Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Sirraj and Prasad Krishna. While Bumrah’s availability can depend on how the Asia Cup 2025 campaign ends, it is being said that he will fit to play both tests against the West Indies.
Akash Deep, which was part of the tour of England, is still not completely recovering from a back injury which he continued during the Lord’s Test and cannot be considered for the West Indies Test. Nitish Kumar Reddy is likely to be selected as the 15th member in the squad.
In particular, the two -match Test series will close in Ahmedabad on 2 October, and New Delhi will host the final game on 10 October.
