33 -year -old India National Cricket Team batsman Karun Nair has finally opened up for the upcoming home series against the West Indies.
Karun Nair said that he is completely disappointed after not finding a place in India’s Test squad for the two -match Test series played in October.
Ajit Agkar ends Karun Nair’s Test career
Karun Nair made a comeback to the Indian Test team after eight-plas years during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. This became possible after his brilliant performance in domestic cricket. Nair performed effectively for Vidarbha in domestic cricket in formats and played an important role in his third Ranji Trophy Triumph.
He scored 863 runs in 16 innings with four tons and scored an average of 53.93 in the Ranji Trophy and forced the selectors to remember the Test team. He also glowed in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, scored 779 runs in eight innings, and in IPL 2025 made some good knocks for Delhi capitals.
Karun Nair started a tour of England with a brilliant 204 in a tour match against England Lions in Cancerbury, but was unable to repeat his success in the main series.
His form went down completely, and he managed to score just 205 runs in 8 innings at an average of only 25.62. Following his brilliant performance, he was not included in a team for informal trials against Australia A in India.
And on Thursday, September 25, he was completely removed from the test squad. Speaking at a press conference, chief selector Ajit Aggarkar said he expected a better performance from Nair, and his poor outing hit his ax.

As expected, Karun Nair was not a happy man after being removed from the Test team just after a series. In an interview with Toi, he said:
“Yes, I expected a selection. I don’t know what to say. No words. I have no other comment to make. It is very difficult for me to answer,” he said.
Karun Nair’s best performance on England tour when he was snatched to the fourth game and brought back to the conclusion of the series at Kennington Oval in London. In the first innings, he scored 57 runs when no other batsman touched the 30 -run mark. His knock eventually played an important role in winning 6 runs to win that game in India.
Meanwhile, Nair reminded everyone in fifty and said that he made some good contribution with the bat.
“You probably should ask the selectors what they are thinking. There is only one thing, even in the last Test match, I got 50, when I did not score in the first innings. So, yes, yes, I thought I contributed to the team and especially in the previous game we won. But yes, it is what is the same.
