Former Indian captain Kapil Dev has made an interesting comparison while talking about Virat Kohli’s unique personality on the field. India’s first World Cup-winning captain said Virat Kohli is one of those rare players whose energy and emotions become his biggest strength on the field.

This legendary all-rounder believes that every great player has a different style of handling pressure. He said that some players remain calm, while others like Kohli perform at their best when they are full of passion and intensity.

Kapil Dev reveals the special quality that makes Virat Kohli different from everyone else

Recently, Kapil Dev shared that Virat Kohli always had something special that made him different from other batsmen. He pointed out that Kohli’s wrist work is so good that he can easily flick even the fast bowlers to the mid-wicket and mid-on areas as he has extra time to test the ball, which helps him play his shots.

Kapil described Rohit Sharma as one of the best players in terms of assessing the length of the ball. The former Indian captain said that players like Kohli and Rohit have natural talent which cannot be taught. Kapil Dev raised questions on Virat Kohli’s Test retirement, said- ‘Should not have gone in anger’

Kapil Dev said on Sports Tak, “Because he had time. When we flick, that flick is not at third man, not at final leg. He can flick the fast bowler at mid-on and mid-wicket boundary. So, he has a little more time to pick the ball. Like Rohit, he catches the length ball so well that the biggest player in the world cannot pick the ball so well. So, Some players have that ability. Virat had that ability.”

Kapil Dev compared Virat Kohli with John McEnroe and Javed Miandad

Speaking about Kohli’s aggressive attitude, the legendary cricketer said that the former India captain reminds him of great American tennis player John McEnroe because of his fiery nature. Kapil also compared Kohli with former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad.

The great all-rounder said, “It’s a bit strange that he gets over-enthusiastic. But watching Virat reminds me of John McEnroe. Because unless he was fighting, he couldn’t perform. And Javed Miandad was also like that. Some players are like Rahul Dravid, like Sunil Gavaskar, like Sachin: keep your head down, play and give your performance.”

The 1983 World Cup winner admitted that he himself could never be as expressive or confrontational as someone like McEnroe or Kohli, but he really enjoys watching players who compete with such passion and emotion because it reflects their hunger to win.

He concluded by saying, “There are some players in sports who rise to the challenge. That’s why I came up with McEnroe’s name. Even though he always fights with the referees, I can’t do that. I could never do that. But it’s cool to see how much he can do.”

And sometimes looking at Virat I feel cool and I take it in stride. But perhaps they feel that enthusiasm improves their performance. If it happens, why not?” Notably, Kohli will return to action with the three-match ODI series starting from July 14 in England.
