Josh Hazlewood hits a brutal bouncer on the head of Shubman Gill; Batsmen shaken by bad hit at MCG

Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood bowled a sharp bouncer to Team India opener Shubman Gill in the second T20 match between the two sides at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday, October 31. The sharp bouncer bowled by Hazlewood caused serious injury to the right-handed batsman’s helmet.

The first T20 match in Canberra was abandoned due to rain and only 9.4 overs of play were possible before the match was abandoned. After being invited to bat, Team India made a solid start and reached 97/1 by the end of the game. In the second match in Melbourne, Australia once again won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Josh Hazlewood bowled a short ball on the third ball of the first over of India’s innings. Gill moved forward to pull but was late in taking the shot and the ball hit the helmet. Hazlewood immediately checked him over, and the physios rushed to carry out the mandatory concussion tests.

Gill was cleared to remain in office after mandatory concussion testing. He spoke to the physio and umpires before resuming his innings.

India lost four wickets for 32 runs in five overs.

Shubman Gill was out on a low score in the current match. He was out after scoring 5 runs in 10 balls while trying to attack Josh Hazlewood. Sanju Samson, who was promoted to number 3, also struggled and was out after scoring 2 runs in 4 balls.

Till the time of writing the news, India was in deep trouble at 32 runs for 4 wickets in 4.5 overs. The visiting team also lost captain Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma. Abhishek Sharma and Axar Patel were left to steady the innings as Australia’s pace bowlers dominated the opening spells.

For Australia, Hazlewood took three wickets, while Nathan Ellis took one wicket. The home team took full advantage of what it offered to trouble India.

Shubman Gill remained unbeaten after scoring 37 runs in the first T20 match against Australia.

Shubman Gill looked in great form during the rain-affected first T20 match. He finished a tough ODI series with an unbeaten 37 off just 20 balls, which included four fours and a six. Abhishek Sharma was the only Indian batsman to be dismissed, scoring 19 runs and falling to a slower ball from Nathan Ellis.

Suryakumar Yadav took the innings forward by scoring unbeaten 39 runs in 24 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes. Gill and Suryakumar took India to 97/1 in just 9.4 overs, but the match had to be abandoned due to rain.

The visitors entered the series looking to bounce back from a 2-1 loss in the previous ODI, where Australia sealed the series early before India secured a consolation win in Sydney.
